UN Sanctions

There is no UN sanctions regime against Burundi.

EU Sanctions

The EU sanctions regime against Burundi is based on "Council Decision (CFSP) 2015/1763 of 1 October 2015 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Burundi."

It is a regime-based regime consisted of mainly the following restrictive measures: 

  • Travel bans 

  • Financial sanctions (asset freezing)

U.S. Sanctions
The U.S. sanctions program against Burundi was terminated following the issuance of Executive Order 14054 which terminated the national emergency which was declared in Executive Order 13712.
